Chaplain's Area Chaplain Bob Campbell
31, October 2011
NAFTS Founding Father and our
shipmate Passed away on October 18 at age 93 years.
Bob started the NAFTS organization from a list of 30 "X" ATF sailors
in the late 80's The first reunion was held in 1990 at Orlando
Florida. Bob was President, Treasurer, Towline publisher and
all rolled up in one! Pat, his wife and all of us "Old Time"
members of NAFTS will miss him. He was the centerpiece of all
reunions and attended them all as long as his body would let him.
Bobs family hopes that any contributions will be sent in his name to
VNA Hospice, 1110 Dutton Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95401 or you may send
them to the NAFTS Treasurer, R. Dana 221 Buland Dr. Castle Rock, WA
98611 who will gladly forward them.
05 February 2011
Our shipmate and the NAFTS Treasurer for the past several years,
Nick Radke crossed the bar on 3
February 2011 after a short stay in the hospital. Nick, as
many of us remember suffered from heart problems for the last
several years. Nicks dedication to details as the NAFTS
Treasurer earned him the respect of the board. His cheery
disposition and friendliness made him a centerpiece at all NAFTS
reunions. Nick served on USS Takelma (ATF 113) 1956-1958.
He was a member of NAFTS since 2001.
05 April 2011
Sorry to report another long time NAFTS member and steady
contributor to the board, Dr James Gauntlett has crossed the
bar on 30 March. Jim was the website host in year 2000 at San
Diego. He was one of the original members of the new NAFTS
board when we re-organized in 2000. Jim attended nearly every
reunion afterwards until he became to ill of health in 2009.
Another dedicated NAFTS departed.
